Your Responsibilities as a SAX Driver

WASH BAY

It is the driver's responsibility to ensure your bus is clean during your jobs and should be left thoroughly clean at the end of our shift for the next driver.

In 2025, the Pre and Post-Tour Cleanliness forms will be required to be filled out by drivers to prove the condition they found, and left the allocated vehicle in. This is in addition to the pre and post-tour walkround videos that were introduced in 2024.

Please leave your bus in the state you wish to find it!

This is significantly important, and anyone not following these guidelines will be met by disciplinary action.

Anyone that gets a vehicle that's unclean, either inside or out, please take pictures as evidence and show office staff where possible so that it can be investigated further and dealt with appropriately.

*COMPULSORY PRE AND POST TOUR VIDEOS*

Due to the process' success in 2024, we will be continuing the compulsory videos of your vehicle pre and post tour. This is to demonstrate the condition of the vehicle upon receiving and parking it up, both damage and cleanliness wise. This process helps the office determine where damage has occurred if it hasn't been reported to us in the first instance. It also helps cover the driver if any damage appears - the driver has a video to prove it was there when they received the vehicle - but also works the other way. If you are not technically minded, please let the office know and we will happily help with this. Please take your time when doing these videos and make sure all damage and areas inside the vehicle are covered so we can nip cleanliness issues in the bus also.

NEW FOR 2025 - COACH VIDEO GUIDES

Over the off-peak season between 2024 and 2025, the Office completed the recording of coach video guides that will be sent out to each driver ahead of tour commencement. These are based on vehicle type, not specific vehicle registration - for example, if you are allocated a VIP Classic for a tour, you will be sent a generic VIP Classic coach guide video - this may not be the exact vehicle registration you are in, however are like-for-like similar. Hopefully this should assist drivers in a heads up ahead of tour commencement, and reduce pre-tour nerves.

DEFECT SHEETS AND FLEETIO APP

Each vehicle will have a Defect Book within the dashboard and glovebox area. Prior to using a vehicle, a defect sheet should be filled out when carrying out extensive vehicle walk round checks. Upon filling out these sheets, these should be handed in immediately to the "Nil Defects" tray in the driver's room. Alternatively you can use the Fleetio app to undertake a vehicle walkround check and log it that way.

If there are any defects noticed on the vehicle you are using, these should be brought to the office and mechanic staff's attention immediately so it can be rectified.  After the issue has been rectified, the defect sheet will be signed by the mechanic who dealt with it and then put in the "Defect" tray to be filed of appropriately.

If required, walk round training can be provided to ensure you feel comfortable with vehicle controls. A guideline for walk round checks from VOSA can be downloaded from the foot of this page. It is also important you know the DVSA guidelines for the above.

OIL LEVELS

Included in your walk round checks, should be a check of the oil levels. If required, please ensure oil is topped up before starting any jobs. Be careful not to overfill too.

LIGHT BULBS

If any light bulbs are out on your vehicle, you should notify the workshop who will arrange for these to be replaced immediately. Please note this on the defect sheet so we can keep track of this.

FUEL

At the end of each shift your bus should be left ATLEAST  3/4 fuel for the next driver. Fuel cards can be found in the glove box.

Shell Fuel Card - to be used in Shell stations only - swipe at the card machine and type in pin of 1995 unless the card states a PIN on the rear.

Fuel Genie - all supermarkets except for Asda - swipe at the card machine and sign a receipt - no pin to be used

STANDARD DIESEL ONLY PLEASE - not petrol...

ABLUE & SCREENWASH

Please ensure when carrying out your walk around checks that the AdBlue contains 3/4 (three quarters). If it contains any less, then please top it up from the AdBlue tank located in the yard near the wash bay and replace the cap.

Likewise with Screen Wash, please ensure this is at maximum levels.

EMERGENCY DOORS

Upon using a vehicle, the first thing that should be done is to make sure that ALL emergency doors are unlocked. This is extremely important in the unlikely event you will need to use them.

JUMP LEADS

Each vehicle will contain a set of jump leads. If the vehicle fails to start you should try to jump start before contacting duty staff. If you feel you require training, this can be provided by arrangement.

OUTWITH THE YARD

It is extremely important to remember as soon as you step in the vehicle, you are representing St Andrews Executive Travel. Please be a courteous driver at all times. Before parking, please ensure that you are in a suitable place - not blocking entrances and other cars in. Any parking tickets will be passed directly to the driver responsible.

Additionally, we have had various instances of speeding reported by members of the public. Please ensure plenty of time is given to get to where you need to be to ensure you don't need to rush. You are representing the company.

If you feel you require training in any of the above, please contact the office ASAP so this can be arranged.
