Classical seafood well presented in lovely surroundings. Also check out the sister restaurant Fishers in Leith if the main one in town is unable to accommodate you.


CAFE ROYAL: 01315 561884: The Cafe Royal Oyster Bar is set in a beautiful marble floored room with venerable stained-glass windows that come to life when the sun hits them. MARTIN WISHARTS: 01315 533557: Martin Wishart opened his eponymous restaurant in 1999 and since then it has become known as one of the UK's most acclaimed dining venues, currently holding one Michelin star, 4 AA Rosettes and a score of 8/10 in the Good Food Guide.


WHISKI ROOMS: 01312 257224: Opened in June 2011 and has quickly established a reputation as being one of the best in Edinburgh. If you are keen to sample some whisky this is the place to do it as Whiski Rooms has achieved a Silver Award at Dram Whisky Bars of Scotland 2012. With over 300 malts and blended whiskies to choose from you won't be disappointed.


CHAOPHRAYA: 01312 267614: This latest addition to the Chaophraya chain showcases a rooftop restaurant with stunning views of Edinburgh Castle. This Thai restaurant brings flavour to George Street presenting a fusion of delicious authentic cuisine, luxurious surroundings and a sensational drinks menu.
