Tachographs/Cards
You MUST upload tacho cards to the machine in the drivers on a weekly basis, or as soon as possible upon your return from a tour.
- If for whatever reason, your card is faulty, or you lose it, you MUST apply for a replacement immediately from the DVLA. They are required to send you a replacement card within 5 working days of receiving your application.
With a lost tachograph card, you CAN still continue to operate a digital tachograph vehicle as long as you stick to the following rules:
- At the start and end of your driving jobs, you should print out a record of the tachograph from the vehicle, writing your name and driving licence number on the back of each printout and sign it for confirmation.
- Keep these printouts available in case of inspection on request by the authorities for the next 28 calendar days
- After these 28 calendar days, you should give these printouts to the office who will store them in your records for atleast the next 12 months.
- Any driving infringements must be reported to the office
- You MAY NOT under normal circumstances, continue to drive for more than 15 calendar days without using a valid driver card.
- If you need to report a missing, stolen or faulty card, you can request a form from the office.
