Airport Lost Property Procedures

During the 2022 season, we saw a significant rise in problems occurring at Airports across the country, from baggage going missing to flights being delayed hours, or even cancelled, causing chaos for clients arriving for their golf tours. Noted below is the individual procedures for missing baggage at Airports and what you should to if you're client's luggage doesn't come off the carousel. Fingers crossed these problems don't persist into 2023, however if they do, we all need to know what to do.

  • The first and only thing you can do if your clients lose their luggage is to reassure them that you will do your utmost best to attempt to get them back. It is normal for them to be worried or panicky when this happens. This is the last thing you want happening when you touch down in a foreign country!

  • The procedures for baggage reclaiming differs per Airport, so please ensure you have a good knowledge of the procedures at all Airports in the event this happens to your group.

Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports

If your clients experience their luggage going missing, contact Luggage Point either in person, by phone (0330 223 0893) or via email on edinburgh@luggage-point.co.uk

For Edinburgh, this is situated before security at the Domestic and International 2 Arrivals exit and is open 04.00 until 22.00 from Monday to Sunday. For clients who have lost luggage heading outwards from Edinburgh, they should attend Luggage Point at Gate 6 after security which is open 05.00 until 15.00, Monday to Sunday.

For Glasgow, a similar procedure operates in that should baggage go missing, you should contact Luggage Point by attending their reclaim area just after UK Border Force control if your clients are arriving on an international flight. Alternatively, stating what Airport you are in, you can contact them on 0330 223 0893 or via email on glasgow@luggage-point.co.uk.

For both, you can also search the Lost Property database for the items you have lost

Luggage Point at both Edinburgh and Glasgow also operate a bag wrapping service which may be useful for your clients.
